Sequence Break
For Sequence Break, an indie game company poised to become a positive disruptor in the gaming industry, I had the pleasure of designing a logo that embodies their bold vision. Inspired by the dynamic energy of anime and the fiery spirit of sunrise and sunset colors, the logo breaks away from convention.
Deconstructing the Logo: Inspiration and Design Choices
Initial logo sketch explorations by Sequence Break’s Art Director, Adam Tazi, that capture the design journey: sharp angles giving way to graceful curves, a visual metaphor for transformation.
HWT Konop takes center stage as the primary font. Its bold, geometric, and gothic characteristics evoke a feeling of strength and stability. This choice draws inspiration from the bold typography often seen on anime posters, reflecting a touch of Japanese influence.
To complement the weight of the primary font, Barlow Condensed is introduced. This clean and condensed typeface provides a touch of modernity and improves readability, particularly at smaller sizes.
The yellow shape embodies a duality of meaning. It can be interpreted as a flag, symbolizing determination and direction. Alternatively, it can be seen as a phoenix rising, representing renewal and transformation.
The dynamic starburst element is a common visual trope in anime that signifies positive events and milestones. This shape adds a layer of energy and excitement, reflecting the fast-paced and action-oriented nature of many popular anime series.
